Meet the Literary Alchemist

In high school, I was known as the smart girl who read a lot of books. Now, I channel that love of literature into editing them!

As a writer with a bachelor's degree in editing and publishing and a minor in creative writing, I'm passionate about helping authors use clear and effective writing to share their stories. Throughout my education, I have developed critical writing and editing skills in academic and creative nonfiction writing, as well as in a variety of fiction subgenres.

I understand how challenging it is to complete a manuscript, regardless of the genre. During my undergraduate studies, I dedicated significant time to researching and writing my honors thesis: a series of creative nonfiction essays focused on the intersection of identity, religion, and trauma. This experience sharpened my ability to critically assess my own writing, identify its weaknesses, and make targeted improvements.

Additionally, I’ve volunteered as a student editor for two student journals and am in my second year working as an in-house editor at Greg Kofford Books. These experiences have taught me how to manage a team of editors and how to effectively communicate editorial changes to authors. With my background in the craft and theory of writing across creative nonfiction, poetry, and fiction, I can help elevate your work, no matter the genre.

Ideology

Inclusivity and respect are at the heart of my editorial philosophy. I believe every story has value and deserves to be told in its most authentic form, no matter the background, identity, or experience of the author. As an editor, my goal is to honor your unique voice, ensuring that your story resonates with readers while maintaining its cultural and personal integrity.

I also strive to foster a collaborative relationship where you feel empowered throughout the editing process. Together, we can craft a manuscript that speaks to your truth. By focusing on accessibility and understanding, I ensure your work not only remains true to your vision but also reaches those who need to hear it.

Experience

My professional experience includes working as an in-house editor at Greg Kofford Books, where I specialize in copy editing, proofreading, and preparing scholarly works for publication. I’ve also served as a senior editor for BYU’s Inscape and Schwa journals. These positions have given me hands-on experience with diverse styles and genres.

From academic texts to creative works, my experience spans various writing forms. I’ve worked across multiple fiction genres, refining my skills with each project. Whether your project requires structural refinements or final touches, my expertise enables me to meet your individual editing needs.

Hobbies

When I’m not editing, you’ll most likely find me with a book in my hands. I’m passionate about storytelling in all forms, whether it’s through literature, art, or even video games. I have a pet betta fish, Nova, who adds a splash of color to my life. I also enjoy going to the concerts of my favorite artists; the frisson of live music energizes my soul!

I'm also a big fan of collecting random tidbits of knowledge—from mycelial networks to English mead to deep sea creatures. These explorations not only inspire my writing but also deepen my appreciation for our diverse world! Ultimately, every book, song, and story I encounter adds to my creativity.
